About Us
It all started with an Irish Wolfhound named Fred, he was a little odd. Fred tended to have an affinity for vegan foods (don’t worry he still had his standard dog stuff) This started a desire to create more vegan foods as the ones out there at the moment can be quite pricey.
(some vegan honey’s were up to $25aud for a 300ml which is insane)
So I started looking into recipes and possible ingredient substitutes & did alot of trial and error to find what works and what doesn’t (there were ALOT of what doesn’t)
and this is where we are so far…
Starting with Fred’s Vegan Hunny (so so good) , and soon to be expanding to Fred’s Vegan Lemon Spread (still testing, but so far quite delicious) We aim to come up with a nice little collection of vegan products. All at real world pricing and using sustainable and re-usable and/or recyclable packaging.

Environmental & Sustainability
At Vegan Fred we are dedicated to helping where possible. We use all Glass Jars and Paper Bags etc
Part of the process we use involves using gas for cooking. So to offset the carbon involved, we use 15trees, an organisation that uses tree planting to outweigh carbon footprints for generations to come.
The Vegan Hunny process generates 800g of Co2/ 30 jars. So we have proactively offset 4020kg worth of carbon or over 150,000 Jars. This is just us doing our bit to help the environment.
FAQ
Is every product Vegan?
Absolutely, every ingredient used is vegan. We make sure to double check everything as some colourings and preservatives can have ‘shady’ origins that are unclear so we avoid those.
Is your dog actually Vegan?
No, as dogs do require the nutrients so he does have standard dog food as well. But that being said he is more easily rewarded with vegan foods rather than standard dog treats. He even has a squeaky avocado that he adores (as the real ones are poisonous for dogs)

Vegan vs Regular Honey
There are some ethical companies who can harvest honey with no damage to the bees, but alot go for quantity and can’t take precautions for the hive. With Vegan Hunny it’s not affecting Bee’s at all ! To put it a bit more into context, each teaspoon of regular hunny is the lifework of 12 bees. Our fruit based hunny isn’t !
While Bee’s are important to our ecosystem and their work is vital, the level that they are being used isnt viable so it helps to have some substitutions to help where possible.
